ABOUT MACABI

Macabi was founded in 1992 as the original cigar bar located on Las Olas Blvd in downtown Fort Lauderdale. Current owners Mike and Jim acquired the business in January of 2020 just before the pandemic. Surviving the pandemic, they continue the long tradition of being purveyors of fine cigars and premium spirits from across the globe.

The name Macabi is reminiscent of the name derived from a town in Cuba where Christopher Columbus landed in what is believed to have been today's Holguín province in 1492. He claimed that it was "the most beautiful country human eyes had ever seen". It also captures the rich history of the indigenous people and the tobacco that was discovered, allowing the legacy of the cigar to persist into modern times.
