Our Story
A Las Olas original.
Macabi opened in 1992 as the original cigar bar on Las Olas Boulevard in downtown Fort Lauderdale.
Mike and Jim acquired Macabi in January 2020 and continued its tradition as a neighborhood gathering place for premium cigars, drinks and conversation.
Today, longtime regulars, Fort Lauderdale locals and visitors from around the world meet at Macabi for a cigar, a drink and live music.

The Name
What’s Macabi?
The name Macabi comes from Cuba and a place associated with Columbus’s 1492 landing in what is now Holguín province.
The area’s history is tied to the Indigenous people who introduced tobacco to Europeans. The name honors that connection to Cuba and the long history of the cigar.
